Psycho-oncology is a scientific field derived from psychology and linked to oncology. Its activities include oncology education, accompanying oncology patients during treatment, and psychological support for patients families. The goals of psycho-oncology are: to support the patient and alleviate the psychological effects of the disease, develop coping methods and improve the patient’s communication and functioning in the environment. The psycho-oncologist also deals with patients undergoing palliative and hospice treatment. Psychological support is essential in reducing stress, significantly affecting the treatment process.
